Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Do you offer a free 15-minute consult?

Yes! The problem with such a brief conversation is that it’s rarely very therapeutic. What tends to happen is that it takes the 15 minutes just for you to explain the issues and then we're out of time before I've done anything very helpful. What I prefer is to book an hour so that we have more time if you would like to proceed but, if we determine that it's not a good fit after the first 15 minutes, then there will be no charge. If that sounds good to you, you can book here:

Is video therapy effective?

The American Psychological Association states “Research studies, many of which are listed in bibliography format by the Telemental Health Institute, also indicate that telemental health is equivalent to face-to-face care in various settings and an acceptable alternative.” Read the full article here: https://www.apa.org/monitor/2017/02/online-therapy

Do you only do video therapy?

No! I do offer in-person sessions as well. However, because those sessions are conducted in a private residence, they are available only to existing clients (i.e., after at least one video session).

What about therapy with young children?

I find it to generally be tougher to conduct therapy with young children virtually. If your child has seen me before and needs to see me again, contact me, and we will make arrangements for an in-person session.

There is no time like the present.
